Our Brand Story
HER Bodywear was born out of a personal journey and a mission to support women who have gone through the life-changing experience of breast cancer. With breast cancer being the most common cancer in the UK, there are 55,000 new diagnoses each year – that’s one every 10 minutes. Sadly, 15% of British adult women are affected by this disease, yet the market for bras specifically designed for post-surgery or mastectomy patients has been severely lacking.
In 2021, during my final year at university studying Fashion Management, I discovered that only 0.2% of the overall bra market in the UK catered to women recovering from breast cancer. This was staggering, especially when I remembered my own struggle to find a bra that made me feel confident, empowered, and feminine – without looking like it was designed for my grandmother.
HER Bodywear exists to change that. We design bras that not only provide comfort and support but also boost self-esteem and remind you of your strength. Because we believe that every woman deserves to feel empowered on her journey of healing and revival.

About Her
I’m Alex... the founder of H.E.R Bodywear. My journey to creating this brand is deeply personal. I’ve battled breast cancer twice (2013 and 2020) and been through countless surgeries and treatments. Each time, it changed my body, my self-perception, and my needs. Finding bras that not only fit my new shape but also made me feel confident again felt like an uphill struggle. I realised I wasn’t alone in this – countless women facing breast cancer and post-surgery recovery share the same frustrations.
After experiencing firsthand the emotional and physical challenges of recovery, I became determined to create a solution. I wanted to design bras that not only provide comfort and support but also help women reclaim their confidence.
I know the pain points and irritations all too well – the discomfort of seams that dig into sensitive skin, the awkwardness of traditional fastenings post-surgery, and the lack of comfortable yet supportive, and empowering options for women going through this journey. I’ve taken those experiences and transformed them into a brand that listens to and understands women’s needs.
With H.E.R Bodywear, I’ve poured my heart into creating bras that are modern, comfortable and functional. My designs are thoughtful, from seamless bonded fabrics and soft edges to innovative front and back fastenings. Every feature is intended to alleviate the struggles women face after surgery, making recovery a little easier and a lot more empowering.
This is more than just a brand – it’s my way of giving back to the incredible women who, like me, deserve to feel strong, confident, and beautiful at every stage of their journey.

Just a message to say you have absolutely smashed it! it’s amazing - a bra that you forget you are wearing!! It doesn’t dig in (and every bra I’ve owned and even had measured does this). I’m amazed and that’s no lie.

When I first put on my new black H.E.R bra I was immediately thrilled with how feminine it looks and how soft it feels next to the skin. I had a wide local excision on my right boob with reconstruction/ perforator flap and my scar is completely hidden - I feel supported, comfortable and sexy again!

Omg it’s so so gorgeous! I love love love love the bra, so much nicer than the average frumpy post surgery bra, it’s super comfortable. I also love the length of it, I found other bras are too short and dig into my new scars whereas yours go over the top!
